The band
Grey River & the Smoky Mountain bring their living room, the space in which they experiment, write new music, rehearse, tell jokes, have fun and share their personal moments and musical pursuits, to the stage. With new and old songs they transport the audience to their own home, in the Appalachian Mountains, combining American, Irish and European traditional musical elements in one special evening.

'They prove that music might be born in countries but it affects, it is affected, it shifts through time and it fits everywhere. Grey River and the Smoky Mountain have persuaded us that music has no borders’.

‘Personally, I was not only impressed by the music of Grey River & The Smoky Mountain but also by their lyrics, which are deeply existential, slipping through metaphysical many times, bringing to my mind some of the haunted ballads that in the fifties Harry Smith had in mind or those John Hartford recorded in the late sixties-early seventies’.

‘Grey River & The Smoky Mountain is a band that slowly but firmly defines its own, exclusive space in the local music. The atmosphere created in each appearance, whether in a small or a large venue, and their acceptance by an audience that at another time would have difficulties in understanding what they are doing, is the proof that the future opens ahead of them with the best signs’.
